Each year, the Florida Association of Realtors (FAR) sponsors its Scholarship/Essay Contest for High School Seniors. To enter, eligible students must write a 500-word essay on "How Does a Realtor Professional Benefit the Community?" The first-place winning entry in each of FAR's 13 Regional Districts receives a $5,000 scholarship; the second-place winner in each district receives a $1,500 scholarship award; and third-place winners each receive a $500 scholarship award. FAR also provides three $5,000 state-level scholarship awards, for a total of $106,000 in scholarship funding.

FAR sends copies of the 2007-2008 scholarship/essay contest application kit and other materials to senior high schools' guidance offices throughout Florida. The materials also are available to download on this site.     Cover Form

Want to hear from one of our student winners? Just click "play" below on the audio clip of one of FAR's 2005 state grand prize student essay winners, which was recorded by an audience member at FAR's Board of Directors Meeting during the 2005 annual Convention & Trade Expo. While the audio quality is less than ideal, we thought you'd enjoy hearing part of Layne Zhao's award-winning, heartwarming essay anyway. After all, it's all about the message..
