Hobe Sound Realtor Installed as President-Elect of Florida’s Largest Professional Association
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Mike Dooley, a broker with Illustrated Properties in Hobe Sound, has been installed as the 2005 president elect of the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR), the state’s largest professional association with 120,000 members.
A member of the Jupiter, Tequesta, Hobe Sound Association of Realtors and also the Realtor Association of Martin County, Dooley has served his local organization in numerous capacities, chairing virtually all committees and as president in 1993.
On the state level, Dooley served as treasurer for FAR in 2003 and as vice president-secretary in 2001. He also has been a district vice president and chairman of the Local Board Presidents, Professional Standards/MLS, Business Forms and Realtor/Attorney committees, as well as a member of Legal Action, Legislative, Finance and other committees. For the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), he is currently serving on the Business Issues Committee.
Among other community interests, Dooley is helping to form public policy by serving as vice chair of the Martin County Planning and Zoning Board. He has been a member of the county's Board of Adjustment and volunteered with Junior Achievement. He also is active with the Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce and served as the chamber's president in 1990.
Looking to the challenges ahead in 2005, Dooley says he sees a role for Realtors in addressing growth management issues such as smart growth planning -- a holistic approach that reconciles demand, resources and quality of life across multiple jurisdictions. “Smart growth requires education to help counties revamp existing zoning laws so they don’t find themselves going head-to-head with their own efforts to implement smart growth strategies,” says Dooley. “It’s not going to happen overnight, but it’s in our interest to help these efforts succeed.”
The Florida Association of Realtors (FAR), the voice for real estate in Florida, provides programs, services, continuing education, research and legislative representation to its more than 120,000 members in 70 boards/associations.
