Jacksonville Realtor Installed as 2005 Secretary of Florida’s Largest Professional Association

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Wendell Davis, a broker with Watson Realty Corp. in Jacksonville, has been installed as the 2005 secretary of the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR), the state’s largest professional association with more than 120,000 members.

A member of the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors, Davis has served the local organization in numerous capacities, including chairing many committees and as president in 1996. On the state level, he was chairman of FAR's Political Affairs Committee in 2004 and has served on its Legislative and Executive committees, as well as the Property Management Council and Local Government Issues Forum. He also has served as a district vice president for FAR. On the national level, Davis has served as a director and delegate for the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and is a member of NAR’s State and Local Fiscal Affairs Committee.

In the community, Davis was the national treasurer for the National Association of Residential Property Managers for 2004 and president of the Florida Association of Residential Property Managers for 2003-2004. He has been active with the Clay County Chamber of Commerce, March of Dimes, YMCA and the Wesley Woods Adult Retirement Center. He chaired the Clay County Transportation Advisory Council in 2004.

Looking ahead to the coming year, Davis says it is important to encourage Realtors to become involved in community concerns and participate in public issues efforts. “We must encourage member involvement financially and at the grass roots level,” he says. “When the laws change, it has an impact on our business, so we need to stay proactive and let Florida Realtors know what and why, so they’ll support the effort. I was a [football] coach for 23 years and I know that when the team clearly understands the goals and agrees with you, then you can make progress.”

The Florida Association of Realtors (FAR), the voice for real estate in Florida, provides programs, services, continuing education, research and legislative representation to its more than 120,000 members in 70 boards/associations.
