Orlando Realtor Takes Office As Secretary of Florida’s Largest Professional Association

ORLANDO, Fla., January 2009 – S. Dean Asher, broker/owner, Don Asher & Associates Inc. of Orlando, has been installed as the 2009 secretary of the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR), the state’s largest professional association with more than 125,000 members.

Active in residential brokerage, property management and commercial brokerage, Asher is a former president of the Orlando Regional Realtor Association. He has chaired and served on numerous committees for his local association since 1995.

On the state level, Asher served as a FAR district vice president in 2004 and has been a member of FAR’s Board of Directors since 1998. He has served on a lengthy list of FAR committees since the mid-90s. Asher has been a national director for the National Association of Realtors (NAR) from 2005-09.

He is also active in the Orlando community. He was the city’s municipal planning board chair from 2006-08 and will continue to be on the board in 2009. Additionally, he’s been a director of the Central Florida Fair since 1998 and is the current president. The Orlando Business Journal recently named him as one of the “Top 40 Under 40 in Central Florida.” The Boy Scouts are also important to Asher; he was an Eagle Scout and has continued to volunteer with the organization.

In his new FAR role, Asher says he will make sure “our members are on the cutting edge of technology and that they have the best tools in hand to do the job in these tough times. I will also strive to ensure that the best education is in place for them to learn new areas of the business to survive and thrive.”
