Fort Myers Realtor Installed As Treasurer of Florida’s Largest Professional Association
ORLANDO, Fla., January 2006 -- Maggie Morris, broker and regional director, Southern division, at Century 21 Sunbelt Realty Inc. in Estero, has been installed as 2006 treasurer of the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR), the state’s largest professional association with more than 155,000 members.
A member of the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Myers and the Beach and the Bonita Springs Board of Realtors, Morris has served the local organizations in numerous capacities, including as leadership development program chairman in 2005. In 1994, she was named Realtor of the Year by her local Realtor organization. On the state level, she served FAR as secretary in 2004 and was vice-chair of the state Association’s Political Fund-Raising Committee last year. She has chaired or served on numerous state committees and/or councils, including Finance, Executive, Professional Standards, Political Affairs and Strategic Planning and Ambassador, among others. She also has served as a district vice president for FAR.
On the national level, Morris has served as a delegate and director for the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and is the 2006 vice chairman of its member policy and board jurisdiction committee.
In the community, she has served on the Lee County Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and has partnered with the county parks and recreation department on numerous special events for the past 17 years. She is a past member of the Lee Building Industry Association--Sales and Marketing Council and of the Optimist Club of San Carlos Park.
Reflecting on what lies ahead for coming year, Morris says it is important to encourage Realtors to invest in their communities through personal involvement. “Homes make communities,” she says. “The more that we’re a part of our communities, the more that the quality of life is enhanced for all Floridians.”
The Florida Association of Realtors, the voice for real estate in Florida, provides programs, services, continuing education, research and legislative representation to its more than 155,000 members in 68 boards/associations.
