Lakeland Realtor® Elected District Vice President of Florida’s Largest Professional Association

ORLANDO, FL — Vera Tungate, Realtor® with Exit Realty of Lakeland, has been elected District 10 vice president of the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR), the state’s largest professional association. A member of the Lakeland Association of Realtors®, Tungate will serve her fellow professionals in District 10, which encompasses Polk and Highlands counties.

“Finding affordable housing is the biggest issue by far in our region,” she says. “We’ve enjoyed great amounts of appreciation in past few years. But now many qualified buyers cannot find housing for under $125,000. In addition, our inventories remain tight.”

Active in residential sales, investment and grove properties, Tungate was 2005 president of the Lakeland association, and is a FAR director.  She has served as secretary and treasurer of ABATE of Polk County, a nonprofit motorcyclist organization.

Tungate brings extensive leadership experience to her role as FAR district vice president. “One of my role models in high school was a handicapped teacher, who inspired me to never give up -- just persevere until you can find a solution,” she says. “That example has helped me to become a successful leader.”

As a FAR vice president, Tungate will focus on Realtor® education, training and involvement in vital housing-related issues in the region. As real estate professionals, Realtors® seek to improve the availability and affordability of housing, while helping people from all walks of life achieve the American dream.

The Florida Association of Realtors®, the voice for real estate in Florida, provides programs, services, ongoing education, research and legislative representation to its more than 155,000 members in 68 local boards/associations throughout the state.
